If there’s one thing Fuzzy’s is known for, it’s going big. From bowls of queso to killer Baja-style tacos, our shops don’t do anything halfway – and that includes fundraising.
September was Hunger Action Month, and Fuzzy’s partnered with Share Our Strength in their No Kid Hungry movement. While we take pride in filling stomachs every day, we’re especially stoked to alleviate childhood hunger in America through our month-long fundraiser.
Hunger comes in all shapes and sizes. In fact, did you know that 1 in 6 children in the U.S. faces food instability, meaning more than 16 million children go hungry every day.
Children need meals during the school year, and after school meals are often the last meal of the day for many children. Unfortunately, there’s also a tremendous need during the summer when children are out of school and have nowhere to turn for food.
In addition to providing meals, Share Our Strength, through their Cooking Matters initiative, helps empower families with skills to stretch their food budgets and cook healthy meals, so their children get nutritious food at home.
In September, with a $2 donation (or more), guests received a coupon for a free Chips & Queso but, more importantly, a child in need received 20 much needed meals.
What We Raised
Last year we raised more than $93,000, but this year, we chipped in even more. Our goal was to raise more than $100,000 to help transform the lives of hungry children. Well, we did that and more, raising more than $140,000. School has started which means 22 million kids are relying on free or reduced-price school lunches and 12 million kids are relying on free or reduced-price school breakfasts. The $140,000 we raised will provide 20 meals each for 7,000 kids!
Whether you dip, dunk or dive into your bowl of Queso, you can do so with peace of mind, knowing you made a dip-ference. So, stay crunchy, stay cheesy and stay tuned for more Fuzzy’s fundraising to come.
